About Bird Street Gallery
The Bird Street Gallery is a contemporary exhibition space operated by the School of Visual & Performing Arts at Nelson Mandela University in Gqeberha. Housed in the Eendrag Building, a historic Victorian structure originally known as Fleming House, the gallery is located on the university's Bird Street Campus, which was repurposed as a dedicated postgraduate Arts and Culture Hub in 2017.
Celebrating its tenth anniversary, the facility features fine art exhibition spaces and student drawing studios. It functions as both a research and learning space, regularly showcasing diverse artistic disciplines including ceramics, sculpture, painting, textiles, photography, and digital media produced by university staff, students, and local or international contemporary artists.
