About Aldo Scribante Race Circuit
The Aldo Scribante Race Circuit is a permanent 2.48-kilometre (1.54-mile) motor racing track located in the Coega Industrial Development Zone (IDZ) near Gqeberha (formerly Port Elizabeth), Eastern Cape, South Africa. Opened on 30 November 1975, the narrow, eight-corner technical tarmac circuit was named after Aldo Scribante, a local construction magnate and motorsport philanthropist who provided key funding alongside the Algoa Motor Sport Club (AMSC), which still operates the facility today.
Due to Gqeberha's status as a major South African automotive manufacturing hub, the track functions extensively as an official vehicle and tyre testing ground for global manufacturers like Volkswagen, Ford, Continental, and Bridgestone. Following a major resurfacing project in 2018, the venue continues to host top-tier national and regional motorsport events, including the South African Endurance Series (SAES), national Formula Vee championships, and regional superbike and club racing categories.
