The South African Air Force (SAAF) Museum in Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth) is a historic aviation hub located on the southern side of the Chief Dawid Stuurman International Airport. It features a collection of vintage aircraft, helicopters, and memorabilia dating from the 1930s to the present day. The museum is housed in the original WWII-era 42 Air School Gunnery Training Centre and a nearby restoration hangar. Aircraft: Notable displays include the Mirage F1-CZ supersonic fighter, Atlas Impala Mk II, Aerospatiale Puma, and two Harvard trainers. Historical Rooms: Specialized areas like the Korean War Room and Berlin Airlift display. Interactive Experiences: A Buccaneer flight simulator is available for a small fee (approx. R30). Entrance Fee: Free admission, though donations are highly appreciated to support restoration efforts.
