Makakatana Bay Lodge is a 4-star luxury, solar-powered safari lodge located on the banks of Lake St Lucia inside the UNESCO World Heritage-listed iSimangaliso Wetland Park in KwaZulu-Natal. It holds the distinction of being the only privately owned safari lodge operating directly inside this protected reserve. The lodge features eight private suites connected by raised timber boardwalks through a coastal dune forest, categorized into five individual luxury suites, two interleading family suites, and one secluded honeymoon suite.

All rooms are equipped with air conditioning, private viewing decks, and indoor/outdoor showers. Stays include fully guided excursions such as solar-powered eco-boat cruises on Lake St Lucia to spot hippos and crocodiles, open-vehicle game drives across the Western Shores to view rhinos, elephants, and leopards, and full-day beach safaris out to the Indian Ocean coast.
