About Fort Dunford Museum

Fort Durnford Museum (often spelled Fort Dunford) is a historical frontier post and provincial heritage site located in Estcourt, KwaZulu-Natal. Built in 1874-1875 by British soldiers using local sandstone, it was designed by Major Anthony Durnford to protect the townspeople against potential Zulu attacks. Military History: Artifacts from the Anglo-Boer War, old wagons, and models replicating local battles. Natural History: An extensive and impressive collection of bird eggs (Godfrey Symons collection) and various fossils.
