About Manyeleti Game Reserve
The Manyeleti Game Reserve is a 23 000-hectare wildlife sanctuary situated on the western border of the Kruger National Park in the Mpumalanga province. Its name translates to "Place of the Stars" in the local Shangaan language, reflecting its remote and pristine wilderness environment. Because the reserve shares entirely unfenced borders with Kruger National Park, the Sabi Sand Game Reserve, and the Timbavati Game Reserve, it allows the Big Five - lions, leopards, rhinos, elephants, and cape buffalos, alongside hundreds of other mammal and bird species, to roam freely throughout the greater ecosystem.
Unlike public national parks, Manyeleti restricts entry to overnight guests and managed safari operators, which limits vehicle congestion at wildlife sightings. This management structure grants rangers the flexibility to drive off-road for tracking rare animals, conduct nocturnal spotlights drives, and lead guided walking safaris on foot. Accommodation within the reserve ranges from the government-managed Manyeleti Main Camp, which features traditional brick chalets and open camping grounds for self-drive visitors, to privately operated luxury tented camps and permanent safari lodges that offer fully catered stays and guided game-viewing packages.
