About Pretville
Pretville is an open-air 1950s-themed film set and tourist destination situated along the R511 road near Hartbeespoort in North West. Originally constructed as the main filming location for the Afrikaans musical movie Pretville, the venue functions as a living museum dedicated to mid-century nostalgia and retro South African culture.
Visitors can explore a detailed town layout that features vintage storefronts, a traditional pharmacy, a town jail, a retro diner, and an old-school bioscope that screens films. The streets of the property are lined with a permanent collection of colorful vintage cars, classic trucks, and historical police vehicles. The attraction operates exclusively on weekends and public holidays, though it opens during public school holidays and occasionally closes on weekdays for active television and movie filming productions.
