About Eerstefontain Trailhead

The Eerstefontein Trailhead is located at the Spandaukop gate on the fringe of Graaff-Reinet. It serves as the starting and ending point for several popular day walks within Camdeboo National Park. The trail starts at a disused quarry site and enters through a pedestrian gate into the national park. The route is "pan-handle" shaped and offers three main distance options, all marked with an African Hoepoe logo. Cost: Hiking is generally free of charge, but you must pay the standard Camdeboo National Park conservation fee. Permits can be purchased at the Valley of Desolation gate, the park office, or the Tourism Office in Church Street.
