The Karoo Stone Folk Slackpacking Trail is a 4-night, 3-day guided hiking experience based on the historic Weltevreden Farm and surrounding private properties near Nieu Bethesda. This "all-inclusive" trail allows you to explore the remote Great Karoo landscape—including the Sneeuberg mountains and the base of Compassberg—while carrying only a daypack. Total Distance: Approximately 53 km (roughly 17–18 km per day). Difficulty: Moderate to strenuous; requires good ankle strength for stony surfaces and undulating terrain. Route Type: A circular loop starting and ending at Weltevreden Farmstead. The trail is hosted by Wide Open Spaces and typically runs between March and October.
