About The Crater Camino
The Crater Camino is a 5-day slackpacking journey through the Vredefort Dome, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Inspired by the Camino de Santiago, this approximately 80 km route winds through bushveld trails, wild olive forests, and historic sites. Distance & Pace: The trail covers ±80 km over 5 days, averaging 15–20 km per day. The journey starts at Stonehenge River Lodge near Parys. Terrain: Diverse landscapes including rolling bushveld hills, rocky paths, riverbanks, and some of the highest viewpoints in the Dome.
