About Mziki Trail
The Mziki Trail is a scenic, moderately challenging hike located within the Oribi Gorge Nature Reserve in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. It is widely considered one of the best routes for capturing the dramatic scale of the 24 km-long gorge. Distance: Approximately 9 km Difficulty: Moderate. The trail includes a steep initial climb to reach the cliff tops, followed by easier walking across grasslands. Permits: A conservation fee is required for entry to the Oribi Gorge Nature Reserve. Safety Tip: As of March 2025, some access roads were reported as compromised due to heavy rain; it is recommended to check current road conditions with KZN Wildlife (+27 39 400 0030) before departing.
