About Peers Cave

Peers Cave, an incredibly significant archaeological site and National Monument located on the slopes overlooking Fish Hoek and Noordhoek, offers an adventurous outdoor excursion off Silvermine Road in Cape Town. This natural heritage site features a moderately challenging 3-kilometre out-and-back hiking trail that winds through sandy dunes and rocky fynbos terrain. It treats hikers to sweeping panoramic views of the False Bay coastline. Outdoor amenities are entirely nature-focused, consisting of rustic dirt pathways, natural rock shelters, and pre-installed anchor points for sport-climbing and bouldering enthusiasts. Because this historical site is situated directly within a protected, high-risk fire zone of the Table Mountain National Park reserve system, open flames and a strict no-smoking policy are legally enforced along the entire mountain track. For pet owners, the trail is completely pet-friendly, allowing dogs to explore the open paths alongside you provided the owner holds a valid SANParks Level 1 My Activity Permit and keeps their dogs properly controlled.
