The trail gets its name from the dramatic, jagged cliffs that line the path, which locals say look like the "back of a magnificent dragon". It offers a sense of rugged adventure without requiring a full day's commitment. It is a short, roughly 547-foot (167-meter) trail section often incorporated into larger loops like the Noordhoek Peak Loop or the walk to Elephant’s Eye Cave. It’s generally considered accessible for those with basic hiking fitness.
