About Kranspad Staproete
The Kranspad-staproete (also known as the Kranspad Hiking Trail) is a scenic, well-maintained cliff-side walking path located in Hermanus, Western Cape. Part of the famous 12 km Hermanus Cliff Path, it is highly regarded for being one of the best land-based whale-watching spots in the world during the migratory season (June–December). Difficulty & Terrain: Rated as Easy and suitable for all fitness levels, including families and beginners. The path is a mix of paved sections and well-trodden trails. Accessibility: The trail is wheelchair and pushchair friendly in several sections, particularly those closest to the town centre. The trail passes through the heart of Hermanus, near local art installations like the Sculptures on the Cliffs at Gearing’s Point, as well as various shops and restaurants.
