About Banneling | Exile Memorial
Die Banneling (The Exiled) is a bronze monument located on the grounds of the National Women's Monument and War Museum in Bloemfontein. Purpose: Dedicated to the thousands of Boer men and boys sent to exile camps in locations like St. Helena, Ceylon (Sri Lanka), and Bermuda. Design: Sculpted by Danie de Jager, the monument depicts a multi-generational group: an old warrior too elderly to fight and a young boy.
