About President Brand Statue

The President Brand Statue is a historical monument located at 12 President Brand St, Bloemfontein Central. It commemorates Sir Johannes Henricus (Jan) Brand, who served as the fourth State President of the Orange Free State from 1864 until his death in 1888. Location: The statue stands in the heart of Bloemfontein's historic district, situated on President Brand Street. It is positioned in front of the National Afrikaans Literature Museum (NALN) and near the Old Government Buildings. Significance: President Brand is often remembered for his motto, "Alles zal recht komen als elkeen zijn plicht doet" (All will be well if everyone does his duty), which remains a well-known South African proverb.
