About Armoury
The Armoury (also known as the Newcastle Armoury) is a historical landmark located at 4 Scott St, Airport Industrial, Newcastle, 2940, South Africa. It currently serves as the home of the Memorable Order of Tin Hats (MOTHS) and houses a collection of military memorabilia. Built in the late 1870s as a defensive measure during the threat of war with Zululand, the building served as a gathering point for local volunteers, including the Newcastle Mounted Rifles. Most notably, Winston Churchill was reportedly held here as a prisoner of Boer forces in 1899.
