About Blood River Poort Battlefield
A battle fought during General Louis Botha’s second invasion of Natal. A British squadron attacked what they believed to be a Boer scouting party, only to be overwhelmed by the main Boer force. Within ten minutes, 16 British officers and 273 men were killed or captured, and three guns were lost.
