About Hole in the Wall
Hole-in-the-Wall is a massive natural rock formation and archway located approximately 8 km south of Coffee Bay at the mouth of the Mpako River. It is one of the most iconic landmarks of South Africa's Wild Coast, known locally in Xhosa as esiKhaleni ("the place of sound") due to the roar of waves crashing through the arch. You can reach the formation by hiking or driving, though many visitors consider the scenic hike more impressive than the actual landmark.
