The Valley of Desolation is a spectacular geological landmark in South Africa, located within the Camdeboo National Park near the historic town of Graaff-Reinet. Often called the "Cathedral of the Mountains," it is famous for its vertical cliffs and towering dolerite columns that rise up to 120 metres from the valley floor. eological Wonder: The jagged pillars were formed by volcanic and erosive forces over 100 to 200 million years.
