About The Watermill
The Watermill in Nieu-Bethesda is a historic stone building dating back to 1860, originally part of the farm Uitkyk. Located on Pienaar Street (accessible via a suspension bridge opposite the Owl House), it remains a functional piece of history that continues to grind wheat into flour today. History: It was originally built by BJ Pienaar and owned by the Dutch Reformed Church. Its original wooden wheel was replaced with a more durable metal one in the 1860.
