About Hillbrow Tower
The Hillbrow Tower (officially the Telkom Joburg Tower) is a 269-metre tall telecommunications tower that remains one of Johannesburg's most iconic landmarks. As of February 2026, the tower remains closed to the general public and is primarily used as microwave and office space for Telkom. Public Access: The tower has been closed to visitors since January 1981 due to security concerns and has not re-opened for regular tourism.
