About Bourke's Luck Potholes
Bourke's Luck Potholes is a spectacular geological wonder located at the confluence of the Blyde ("joy") and Treur ("sorrow") Rivers in Mpumalanga, South Africa. These "giant's kettles" were formed over millions of years as swirling water and pebbles drilled deep, cylindrical holes into the sandstone bedrock. Named after prospector Tom Bourke, who predicted gold in the area during the 1880s. While he never found any himself, his prediction later proved correct for others.
