The Hand of God is one of the most mesmerizing and mystifying geological landmarks hidden within the ancient mountain desert of the !Ai-!Ais / Richtersveld Transfrontier Park in the Northern Cape. Situated roughly 14 kilometers past the main Sendelingsdrif reception gate, this awe-inspiring site features an uncanny, two-meter-high natural imprint that perfectly mimics a giant human hand embedded into a massive boulder face. Local indigenous legends tell that the impression was formed when the Creator pressed a hand directly into the earth during the formation of these jagged mountains, leaving a permanent spiritual stamp on the landscape. Highly visible just 150 meters off the main 4x4 track, it serves as an essential, eerie photo-stop for overlanders embarking on the rugged journey toward Akkedis or Domrog Pass. Because it is a completely unserviced roadside attraction with zero amenities, visitors should enjoy the view briefly before pressing onward to their remote wilderness camps.
