About Swartrante
The Swartrante (Black Hills or Black Ridges) are a prominent geological feature in the Northern Cape, most notably located within the Augrabies Falls National Park, which is approximately 80–90 km west of Keimoes. These igneous, dark-layered hills form a striking visual border between the arid rocky desert and the more fertile sections of the reserve. Landscape: They are characterized by a "moon-like" landscape of black, volcanic-looking rocks that offer a stark contrast to the surrounding orange-tinted granite.
