About Zandvlei Recreational Park
Zandvlei Recreational Park is a premier open-water wetland and estuary located near Muizenberg on the False Bay coast. Spanning over 250 hectares, it is the only functioning estuary remaining on this coastline, serving as both a vital fish hatchery and a popular hub for water-based recreation. Water Sports: The calm waters are ideal for non-motorised activities including canoeing, kayaking, sailing, windsurfing, and paddleboarding. Nature & Bird Watching: Home to over 149 bird species, including African fish eagles and flamingos. Visitors can use the two bird hides located along the 1.5km circular walking path. Family Recreation: The park features extensive grassy areas equipped with braai (barbecue) stands and picnic spots. There is also a children’s playground with swings and climbing equipment.
