About Stadsaal Caves
The Stadsaal Caves (meaning "City Hall") are a massive network of interconnected caverns and unique sandstone formations located in the Matjiesriver Nature Reserve within the central Cederberg Wilderness Area. Carved by thousands of years of wind erosion, the site is a prominent South African heritage landmark known for its ancient San rock art and more recent historical significance. Permit Requirement: You must purchase a permit in advance to enter the gated area. The permit includes a code for the combination lock on the gate.
