Rotary Way Hermanus Lookout
About Rotary Way Hermanus Lookout
The Rotary Way Hermanus Lookout is a premier scenic viewpoint perched atop the Kleinriviersberge mountain range, offering panoramic views of Hermanus, Walker Bay, and the Hemel-en-Aarde Valley. Located along a 5.3 km mountain pass, it provides one of the best vantage points for land-based whale watching (June–November) and viewing the town's lush vineyards and coastline. Visitors can enjoy 360-degree views; face one way for the vast 180° ocean expanse of Walker Bay and turn around for the rolling mountains and vineyards of the Hemel-en-Aarde Valley. Scenic Drive: The road is a narrow, partially tarred mountain pass accessible to all vehicles. It climbs 188 metres with gradients as steep as 1:15 in some sections. Hiking and Walking: The Rotary Way Contour Path is a moderate 6.3 km walk (one-way) within the Fernkloof Nature Reserve, following the mountain's contour for continuous views.
