About Kalk Bay Breakwater Light Beacon (Inner Mole)
The Kalk Bay Breakwater Light Beacon (Inner Mole) is a navigational aid located in the historic Kalk Bay Harbour in Cape Town. While the more famous "Outer Head" lighthouse sits at the tip of the main pier, the Inner Mole beacon is part of the harbour's internal protective structure. Function: Acts as a crucial guide for incoming fishing boats and recreational vessels navigating the harbour entrance, especially during the area's frequent Cape storms. History: The secondary mole where it is located was added between 1937 and 1939 to further protect the 8-acre basin originally completed in 1918.
