Parrie the Stingray is a local celebrity and "town mascot" living in the Struisbaai Harbour in the Western Cape, South Africa. He is a massive short-tail stingray that has been visiting the harbour for over 30 years, often accompanied by a group of about 10–13 other rays. Best Time to Visit: The rays are most active when the colourful fishing boats (chukkies) return to the harbour, usually around 16:00 (4:00 PM). They associate the sound of the boat engines with food. Interaction: Parrie is famously gentle and accustomed to humans. You can buy pilchards at the harbour to feed him or his friends by hand.
