About Rick's Café Américain
Rick's Café Américain is a popular movie-themed restaurant and jazz bar located at 103 Kloof Street in the Gardens neighborhood of Cape Town. Originally opened in 2005 by owner Per Géza Menkö, the establishment moved in 2020 into a restored, 110-year-old historic Victorian villa featuring intricate iron lacework. Drawing direct inspiration from the classic 1942 film Casablanca, the venue is stylized with Moroccan-themed decor, multi-level dining spaces, and three internal fireplaces. A prominent feature of the property is its covered rooftop terrace, which offers panoramic views of Table Mountain and Kloof Street.
