Rust en Vrede Wine Estate is a historic winery established in 1694 on the slopes of the Helderberg mountain in Stellenbosch. Managed by the Engelbrecht family since 1977, the estate specializes exclusively in the production of full-bodied red wines, with a core focus on Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Merlot.

In addition to its vineyards and underground maturation cellars, the property features a dedicated Tasting Room housed in a Cape Dutch building from 1780, an informal Winemaker’s Lunch service, and a formal fine-dining restaurant located inside the original wine cellar. The estate is also notable for historical milestones, including having its wines selected by Nelson Mandela to be served at the 1993 Nobel Peace Prize ceremony.
