About Anglo-Boer War Memorial
Dedicated to Boer soldiers who fell in the struggle for freedom and justice, the marble monument at the corner of Donkin and Somerset Streets commemorates those lost in the Anglo-Boer War (1899–1902). Crafted in Italy and said to be modeled on photographs of Boer fighters, it was unveiled on 2 December 1908 by General Grobler, standing as a lasting tribute to their sacrifice.
